POEM – FIFTEEN AUGUST A FATEFUL DAY

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY – 2018
POEM – FIFTEEN AUGUST A FATEFUL DAY

1.     In India fifteen August is a fateful day,
It was when the Britishers ran away.
In India . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

2.     Struggle was prolonged but we were determined,
A high price for freedom, we had to pay.
In India . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

3.     After hardships we faced and sacrifices we made,
We celebrate it with joy on face and flowers in tray.
In India . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

4.     None can deny us a place reserved for the brave,
It was utter gloom when we found a way.
In India . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

5.     We breathe in free air and are our own masters,
Let us rejoice that we now have our say.
In India. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

6.     March ceaselessly on the path shown by martyrs ,
It is how truly rich tributes, we can pay.
In India . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

7.     Eradicate injustice, inequality and restore honour to all,
We must take this pledge, stand united and pray.

NOTE: India became independent on 15th August in 1947.
